Are You:
- an athlete, National or weekend warrior, wanting improved recovery and top results?
- an executive or busy entrepreneur looking for better focus and productivity?
- an artist/performer looking to perform your best night after night, show after show?
We want you at peak performance, too, and we know how to get you there.

Being slightly less productive, slightly off key or losing 2-3% athletic capacity has a significant impact on your life, you, the peak performer. It can be frustrating to find the support you need or the practitioners to understand your challenges and goals. Achieving peak performance, at any age, in a variety of fields is possible! It is rarely about working two extra hours, cramming in another show or doing an extra rep or interval. Peak performance comes when mind, body and spirit are balanced – not when you are sleep deprived, stressed and inflamed. Peak performance requires getting the right information, doing the right testing and most importantly, getting the right support and coaching. While supporting peak performance is not a service typically offered or understood by traditional medicine, Be Vital Health Center focuses on this support.
In order to offer this comprehensive support, Melanie Dorion, AGNP has teamed up with experts in the fields of neurofeedback and mind coaching to get you your best results. The Peak Performance Team therefore comprises Functional Medicine and Neurofeedback. See below for more information on our Peak Performance Team.
Functional Medicine
Melanie combines her personal experience as a former International professional cyclist with her expertise in Integrative and Functional Medicine to offer a personalized approach to balancing all the things you needed to perform optimally. You can stop guessing what supplements you need, if you are recovered from traveling, or if your hormones are balanced. Together, you will figure out exactly what you need.
What this approach is not: Working with Melanie is not athletic coaching or injury evaluation, it is not business coaching or voice coaching. Melanie is a Functional biochemistry coach. She investigate how the cells in your body are working via blood, urine and possibly stool testing and creates a personalized plan.
The testing will evaluate the following:
- Hormones
- Blood sugar
- Inflammation
- Vitamins, minerals and Antioxidants
- Digestive health
Neurofeedback
With Jessica Eure from the Virginia Center for Neurofeedback. Neurofeedback is a technology-based physiological learning technique that provides information to a person about his or her own brainwave patterns in the form of EEG activity, which in turns helps stabilize, regulate and balance the central nervous system. A 2014 study (Neurofeedback training for peak performance, Graczyk, 2014) found that only a few sessions of neurofeedback in a high-performance brain can ‘significantly activate the prefrontal cortical areas associated with increasing confidence in sport performance.’ Neurofeedback for performance training is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. In order to obtain optimal results, training begins with a detailed intake and a Quantitative EEG assessment which shows the unique brainwave patterns of the client.
Individualized neurofeedback training plans are based upon the QEEG findings and specific performance goals. Neurofeedback helps:
- Improve concentration, attention and memory
- Shorten response time
- Boost creativity
- Enhance self-control
- Increase ability to learn
- Reduce stress and improve relaxation
Other Peak Performance services from the Virginia Center for Neurofeedback include Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE), guided visualization and Heart rate variability training (HRV). AVE is a technique that utilizes pulses of light and sound at specific frequencies to gently and safely guide the brain into specific brain wave states. This technique helps to boost mood, improve sleep patterns, sharpen the mind and increase relaxation. Jessica will also work with you to develop a personalized guided visualization to strengthen the neural pathways related to your peak performance goals, creating a ‘mental blueprint’ to help program your body and mind for success. A flexible nervous system is essential for peak performance and recovery. HRV Heart rate variability training helps regulate the autonomic nervous system by monitoring and feeding back information about heart beat intervals with a simple finger sensor and guided breathing exercises. There are many wearable direct-to-consumer apps and devices offering HRV, but with this package you will get one-on-one guidance and sessions tracked with more sophisticated, clinical-grade HRV tools so that you can harness the power of this technique more effectively.
